Outreach workshops in your school

Each term, we offer a limited number of London schools the opportunity to benefit from outreach workshops in the classroom.

Designed to give you an introduction to the on-site schools programme at the Heritage Centre, and familiarise your students with the rituals and practices of the Jewish faith as well as some of our Cemetery stories, through hands-on object and resource based learning, workshops last approximately 45 minutes and can be booked to suit your class schedule.

We have specifically designed all of our resources to be suitable for both Jewish and non-Jewish audiences

Curriculum: History, Religious Education, Literacy, Geography

All workshops are geared towards supporting curriculum learning and are available for:

Key Stages: One, Two, Three and Four

Choose from 3 workshops

Workshop 1: Stories from the Cemetery

Take your students on a journey of historical discovery and intrigue with a workshop exploring key stories and themes and ask a Jewish Expert

Workshop 2: Death and Symbolism in Judaism

Workshop 3: Jewish Living

Take your students on a journey of historical discovery and intrigue by submitting questions beforehand to a Jewish Expert (submit 3 days ahead of workshop)

Although we will do our best to accommodate your requests, spaces are limited each term and are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Cost

All workshops cost £3.00 per student.

Depending on location volunteer travel expenses may need to be paid for.

Sessions are best experienced in single class groups, but we can if necessary accommodate two classes, with a maximum of 60 students per session.

If the cost of the session is going to be a barrier for your group please get in touch at heritage@theus.org.uk to find out about subsidised places for schools with high levels of deprivation. These subsidies are limited and are first come, first serve.

Once your session is confirmed we’ll send you an invoice for the full amount. Invoices must be paid two weeks from the invoice date.
