Insects at Willesden Jewish Cemetery

Our volunteers have been monitoring the insect population of Willesden Jewish Cemetery and found quite a range of little creatures who made their home here.

Among them are: Hairy-footed Flower Bee (Anthophora plumipes), Seven-spot Ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata), Lasioglossum, Mining Bee (Andrena), Long hoverfly (Sphaerophoria scripta), Dark-edged bee-fly (Bombylius major)

The details have been uploaded on the Irecord website (https://irecord.org.uk/), which makes it easier for wildlife sightings to be collated, checked by experts and made available to support research and decision-making at local and national levels.

We are planning to highlight the nature in the cemetery in a series of events in summer, including a guided walk and workshops for families. Book your place now: https://shorturl.at/afrw5
